The faculty will support projects across departments/centres at ST in order to strengthen and increase the scientific cooperation across the faculty.

Projects that can rapidly achieve external funding will be supported. The projects should serve as a bridge between at least two ST departments/centres, where the groups involved have not previously worked together and where the potential for achieving academic synergy and a strong professional position is considered present.

A synergy package covers maximum DKK 250,000 per annum for two years. Providing the target is clear and the expenses are justified, the funds can be used freely for synergistic activities, such as conducting workshops, travel expenses, buying out staff, purchasing assistance, etc.

Synergy packages will be allocated to research collaboration in each of the three areas: 1) general synergistic activities; 2) collaboration with industry; 3) public sector consultancy.

Prerequisites for allocation:

  • There is collaboration between two researchers from at least two departments at ST (including the two parts of BIOS) and that the researchers have not previously collaborated.
  • The potential for achieving academic synergy and a strong professional position is considered to be present.
  • Good opportunities for achieving external funding based on the synergistic activity are considered to be present.

Process:

Applications within the following areas can be submitted:

  1. General synergistic research activities
  2. Research activities making business contact
  3. Research activities making public sector consultancy contact by establishing collaboration with research groups that have not traditionally contributed to public sector consultancy

Application:

A subcommittee for each of the three areas will evaluate the applications, after which the Dean’s Office will make the final decision. Chairpersons of the subcommittees are head of department Hans Brix, head of department Thomas S. Toftegaard, and director Hanne Bach.
